CMS recently awarded the Cost Report Audit Risk Assessment Accuracy and Education (CRARAAE) contract to Myers and Stauffer with NHA as their subcontractor. NHA was selected to fill a key role in providing education due to our long history of success in training, outreach, and education. NHA will provide instructional design and education delivery for the CRARAAE contract by developing ongoing Medicare cost report audit and reimbursement training for CMS and the Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs).
The CRARAAE project will assist CMS in the review of MAC Audit and Reimbursement (A&R) activities. Medicare-certified institutional providers are required to submit an annual cost report to a Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC)—CMS receives over 50,000 Cost Reports annually. The cost report contains provider information such as facility characteristics, utilization data, cost and charges by cost center (in total and for Medicare), Medicare settlement data, and financial statement data.
